What is your role at Capitalixe?  

I joined Capitalixe as a Payments and Banking Consultant in February this year. I work closely with our clients to understand their unique business objectives, challenges, and requirements. I then leverage my expertise to deliver tailored strategies and solutions that address their specific needs. I provide ongoing support and guidance to our clients throughout the process lifecycle, helping them navigate complex regulatory environments, integrate cutting-edge technologies, and optimise their operational processes for maximum efficiency and profitability. 

My mission is to empower our clients to navigate the rapidly evolving fintech landscape, capitalise on emerging opportunities, and achieve sustainable success in the digital economy.

 

What does a typical workday look like for you?  

My typical workday involves a combination of strategic planning, research, client interactions, and staying abreast of industry developments. 

To begin my day, I review my calendar to certify that it is appropriately structured, and all scheduled activities align with my objectives for the day. This initial step allows me to plan and allocate my time efficiently, ensuring that I can deliver optimal value to both my clients and the company. 

I devote a considerable amount of time to identifying prospective clients, conducting initial research on their unique challenges and goals, and reaching out to them to initiate meaningful conversations. Once client interactions are underway, my role entails providing in-depth analysis and strategic recommendations tailored to their specific needs. This often involves conducting comprehensive research, data analysis, and benchmarking exercises to identify the most suitable fintech payment and banking solutions for their business objectives. 

Throughout the day, I collaborate closely with my colleagues at Capitalixe, participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities. Our collaborative approach allows us to harness diverse perspectives, share best practices, and collectively address complex challenges faced by our clients. 

I strive to always dedicate time to staying updated on the latest payment and banking trends. I achieve this through various channels such as listening to insightful podcasts, reading informative articles, and following influential blogs.

 

What inspired you to join our fintech consulting team specialising in payments and banking solutions?  

First and foremost, the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the fintech sector is truly exhilarating to me. Fintech represents a transformative force within the financial industry, revolutionising how we conduct transactions, manage our finances, and interact with banking systems. This constant state of innovation and evolution is what drew me to the fintech consulting field. I thrive in environments that embrace change and challenge the status quo, and fintech perfectly aligns with my passion for driving impactful change. 

Another reason that compelled me to join this team was Lissele Pratt, one of Capitalixe’s founders. Lissele has garnered a reputation as a visionary in the fintech industry, and the opportunity to work closely with her is truly inspiring. Her thought leadership and dedication to pushing boundaries resonate deeply with me, and I am eager to learn from her vast knowledge and experience. Being able to collaborate with someone who shares my values and promotes a forward-thinking mindset is a significant perk of being part of this team. 

Furthermore, the ethos and values upheld by our fintech consulting team at Capitalixe strongly align with my own. What are the most rewarding aspects of your role at Capitalixe?  

One of the most gratifying aspects is the collaborative nature of our work environment. At Capitalixe, we foster a culture of teamwork and mutual support, where we recognise and leverage each other’s strengths. This dynamic enables us to deliver exceptional solutions and services to our clients, as we combine our diverse expertise and perspectives. 

Also, Capitalixe places great importance on continuous improvement and growth. We have a strong culture of feedback, where we actively seek input from team members to identify areas for improvement and enhance our performance. 

Another rewarding aspect of my role at Capitalixe is witnessing the positive impact we make on our clients’ businesses. Our consultancy services are designed to address their unique challenges and enable them to achieve their strategic goals. Being able to contribute to their success and witnessing the tangible results of our recommendations is truly fulfilling. What challenges do you face when providing payments and banking consulting services for high-risk industries?  

One of the foremost challenges is navigating the ever-evolving landscape within which these industries operate. The nature of high-risk sectors is inherently dynamic, characterised by frequent regulatory updates, technological advancements, and shifting consumer demands. Staying up to date with these changes and effectively incorporating them into our consulting services requires a deep understanding of the industry and continuous monitoring of market trends. 

Catering to the unique needs and pain points of our clients in high-risk industries poses its own set of challenges. These industries often face heightened scrutiny and stringent compliance requirements due to their susceptibility to fraudulent activities, money laundering, and other illicit practices. As a result, our consulting services must address not only the core aspects of payments and banking solutions but also encompass robust risk management, fraud prevention, and compliance measures. 

 

What excites you the most about the advancements in fintech and their impact on payments and banking?  

One of the most captivating aspects of the advancements in fintech is the tremendous impact they have on the payments and banking landscape. The ability of fintech solutions to extend their reach on a global scale is truly awe-inspiring. Previously underserved populations who were unbanked or had limited access to traditional banking services can now tap into the transformative power of financial technology, thereby gaining newfound access to essential banking services. Witnessing this profound shift towards financial inclusion and empowerment is undeniably beautiful and heartening. 

With the ongoing evolution of fintech, we can anticipate even more groundbreaking developments that will continue to reshape and empower the global financial landscape.

 

What motivates you to exceed expectations for your clients in the payments and banking industry, even in the face of obstacles?  

The driving force behind my dedication lies in my genuine passion for assisting individuals and organizations in achieving their goals. I recognise that the challenges and obstacles they encounter along the way can pose significant hurdles to their progress, and it is precisely in the face of these obstacles that I find inspiration to persevere and deliver exceptional results. 

By actively embracing and conquering challenges, I can showcase my ability to provide innovative and tailored solutions that address the specific needs of each client. This approach enables me to build trust and credibility with my clients, as they witness firsthand my unwavering commitment to their success. 

Ultimately, my motivation to exceed expectations stems from the belief that by helping my clients succeed, I contribute to the overall growth and stability of the payments and banking industry. By enabling businesses to streamline their operations, optimise their financial processes, and embrace emerging technologies, I actively contribute to their ability to thrive in a highly competitive market. 

 

What are the key insights or lessons learned from working at Capitalixe? 

At Capitalixe, we believe in being lifelong learners and that team work really makes the dream work. 

My experience has taught me the significance of maintaining a learning mindset, fostering collaboration, adopting a client-centric approach, embracing agility and adaptability, and upholding ethics and compliance. These key insights have not only helped us deliver exceptional fintech payment and banking solutions but have also shaped our overall approach to consulting in this dynamic and ever-changing industry. 

 

What do you believe sets Capitalixe apart and makes it so unique? 

What sets us apart is our diverse team of experts, each bringing their own extensive experience and deep knowledge from various facets of finance and technology. One aspect that truly distinguishes us is the fact that we have a predominantly female team, which is quite rare in the finance industry. This gender diversity brings a fresh perspective and a unique approach to problem-solving, enabling us to think outside the box and provide creative solutions that may not be readily found in more traditional firms. 

Our exceptional leadership team, comprised of Ivan and Lissele, plays a pivotal role in setting us apart from the competition. They embody the qualities of modern leaders who understand the importance of fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. They actively promote knowledge sharing among team members, ensuring that everyone has access to the collective wisdom and experience of the entire organization. 

 

What are your interests outside of Capitalixe? 

Outside of my professional pursuits at Capitalixe, I am an individual with a diverse scope of interests and quite a few hobbies. 

One of my passions is skating, which allows me to embrace physical activity while also challenging myself to learn new skills and improve my coordination. 

I thoroughly enjoy city rambling, as exploring urban environments and immersing myself in different cultures and architectural wonders fascinate me. The intricacies of urban landscapes, bustling streets, and hidden gems fuel my curiosity and provide endless inspiration. 

Live music is another passion of mine that I hold dear. Attending concerts and performances allows me to connect with the universal language of music and witness the sheer talent and creativity of artists. 

Not lastly, I am deeply committed to social justice issues. I believe in using my voice and resources to advocate for equality, inclusivity, and positive change in society. I engage in discussions, support relevant organizations, and stay informed about current events and initiatives.
